Add “anything but ordinary” to your donation for the 2010 SEC Auction!
Who is the organizer? The Tampa Bay Chapter of MPI is the host of the 2010 SEC and will administer the Silent and Live Auction. However, each of the four Florida MPI chapters are responsible for obtaining their own items. Bidding is open to all conference participants.
Who receives the money and what is it used for? Auction proceeds go back to the contributing chapter and provide support for the educational programs that keep MPI at the forefront of the meetings industry.
What kind of items will be available at the auction? Items available will depend on donations received. In the past we’ve had hotel and resort stays from all over the world, car rentals, airline tickets, golf, spa visits, artwork, attraction tickets, dinner certificates, signed memorabilia, gift baskets, etc. Each Florida MPI chapter is allowed to present up to 40 Silent Auction packages and 1 Live Auction item for a total of 164 packages!
If I donate an item for the auction is it tax deductible? Yes! Once we receive your auction donation, we can send you a receipt with the appropriate documentation upon request.
What are some of the Live Auction Items from previous years? Does 14 nights in China with round-trip airfare for two in Business Class sound great? Or, a 10-night stay in Curacao with round-trip airfare for two? These are just a couple of the Live Auction items from 2009.
When will you start accepting donations? We’re ready for your help NOW! The deadline for getting donations to us is June 15, 2010.
How do I make a donation? Send your item(s) directly to the SEC Auction Chair, Jennifer Roman, MBA, CMP at Hyatt Hotels & Resorts, 249 8th Avenue North, St. Petersburg, FL 33701. **Be sure to make note of the item description, restrictions, blackout dates and dollar value on the Auction Commitment Form and send that form with your donation. Please make all certificates valid from September 1, 2010 through August 31, 2011.
